The Oklahoma District of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod was founded in 1924. The district was founded during the Synod convention of 1923 when the Kansas District was asked to separate the churches in Oklahoma from those in the Kansas district. Now, eighty-two years after its inception, the Oklahoma District of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod has 81 congregations; 23,513 baptized members; 17,942 communicant members; 28 pre-schools, 9 elementary schools and one highschool.
